Nice is the perfect French retreat. There is so much to do in Nice, for anyone! Here is a short list of what you could do.
What to do in Nice during the day
Everyone from backpackers to romantic couples and families will love sitting at a sunny terrace on Cours Saleya in Vieux Nice or a bench on the legendary Promenade des Anglais, one of world’s best spots for people watching.
When it comes to sightseeing and tours Nice has always been a little bit behind the times compared to other cities in France. However the streets in Nice remain full of local life and historic beauty with an unmistakable Niçois culture.
What to do in Nice? Eat! Nice is all about food! There’s no denying that the local cuisine is a big part of anyone’s trip to the French Riviera. Real Niçois cooking is simple and honest with fresh ingredients in Mediterranean style with a strong Italian influence. Ever heard of socca, pan bagnat and petits farcis? You can buy these local delicacies on every corner of the street. But some places definitely stand out. We share these secrets with our guests. Fancy cooking a local dish in your ZEN apartment? Be sure to visit the fresh fish market and town’s best butchers at Rue de la Boucherie. Check out the farmers market on Cours Saleya for a scala of fresh regional products and flowers. Cheese lover? Le Fromage has as selection of cheeses you’ve never seen before.
In the evenings you can take a walk to the Port for an epic sunset, before checking out some of the best eating options you’ll find in France, the buzzing night life and thriving art scene.
What to do in Nice at night
If you’re looking for good fun a tapas bar which stands out is la Merkado, looking more like a Swedish artistic coffee house, which plays techno and electro music. They serve crisp wines, superb cocktails and tapas till late in the evening.
Take a walk down a favoured street in Old Town called Rue de la Préfècture, where there’s always something happening at Wayne’s Bar. A bit further down is Bistrot d’Antoine, without a doubt is the best price-quality local cuisine restaurant in old town Nice.
Nice also has a lively club scene with live music at numerous bars all year through. Our favourites are the Gossip Bar with own house DJ and Fred‘s at the Port. Fred’s is open until 8am and serves fresh croissants – still hot from the bakery next door – and viennoiserie to all the early guests, or should we say very late guests!
With possibly just only a couple of days to try the delicious local food at the best spots, there is no time to waste!
